G Righter Gigs & News
I hope you are making out ok through all of the hiccups. I don’t know about you, but I am eager for the live music scene to get back up to snuff. I’ve been writing new material and hope to get back into some recording this Winter. The recording DAW software for my home studio is called Reaper FM, and I am in the midst of configuring it. I’ve used Steinberg Cubase software and Tascam Portastudios for years, and finally made the switch over to a current, stable software platform.
Back in January I ran into Mr. Pat Foran at his Open Mic Night at Havana in New Hope. After speaking for nearly an hour, we realized were on the same page with a lot of stuff. And it turns out he and I are are both from the Dennis Sandoli line of jazz players, as was my late brother in law, Chris Vellner. Dennis was a renowned jazz guitar instructor from Philly. While I never met Dennis, I studied with one of his long time original students, Vince Piselli, who studied at the same time with Pat Martino. I can hear some of Dennis in all of our jazz solos.
With that said, I’ve moved away from jazz the past few years in favor of more roots and blues, and singing / songwriting. Currently, I’m playing bass for Pat Foran while he makes his comeback from fibromyalgia. I really enjoy Pat’s original material and his overall vibe, and consider myself lucky to have met him.
